Privacy Policy
Packlo is an iPhone app that builds a packing list for a trip and helps you get ready for it. This policy explains what data the app handles, where it goes and what choices you have. In short: your trips and lists are kept so the app can work and sync, they are never sold and never shared with advertisers, and you can delete your account and everything in it from the app.
Your trips and lists
To do its job, Packlo keeps what you put into it:
- Trips: destinations, dates, where you stay, who you travel with, your bags and their weight limits, your plans and activities.
- Lists: packing items and what you have checked off, tasks to do before you go, your shopping list, your bucket list, and your answers in the trip recap (what you didn't use, what you wished you had).
- Profile: the name you type, your clothing preference, the things you always pack and your units.
This is stored on your iPhone and on our backend, which runs on Supabase (servers in the United States), so your lists can sync and come back if you change phones. Part of it is also kept in an App Group container on your iPhone so Packlo's own widgets can show your next trip.
Account
You can start using Packlo without signing in. The app then works under an anonymous ID created for your install. If you sign in with Apple, Google or email, we receive your email address (or the private relay address Apple gives you) and keep it with your account. Passwords are handled by Supabase Auth; we never see them in plain text. Sign-in keeps the same ID, so the lists you made before signing in stay with you.
List building and bag scan (AI)
Packing lists are generated on our server with the help of a third-party AI model (currently from OpenAI). To build a list we send the trip details: destinations and dates, the forecast, your bags, laundry plans, activities, clothing preference and must-have items. Your name and email address are not sent.
Scan my bag sends one photo of your bag, together with the item names on your list, to the same service so it can recognise what is packed. The photo is used for that one request and is not stored by us. The camera is used only for this feature, and only after you choose to scan.
Weather and places (Apple)
Forecasts come from Apple Weather (WeatherKit) and destination search uses Apple Maps. Packlo sends the destination you chose, not your own location: the app never asks for your location.
Purchases (RevenueCat)
Subscriptions are bought through Apple. We use RevenueCat to process and verify purchases and to know whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives your Packlo user ID, your purchase history for Packlo (products, dates, prices, currency, storefront) and basic device information. We never see or store your payment card details.
Usage analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog to understand how the app is used, for example how many people finish onboarding or build a list. Events are tied to your Packlo user ID. They never include your name, your email address or the cities you travel to.
Ad measurement (Meta and App Tracking Transparency)
We may advertise Packlo. To learn which ads bring people to the app, Packlo includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK, which reports that the app was opened and that onboarding was completed, along with device information. When a trial or subscription starts, RevenueCat reports that event to Meta on our behalf.
Packlo asks once for App Tracking Transparency permission. If you allow tracking, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is included so Meta can match these events to an ad you saw. If you don't allow it, the IDFA isn't collected. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. Your trips and lists are never shared with Meta or any advertiser.
App integrity
Packlo uses Apple's App Attest service to confirm that requests to our server come from a genuine copy of the app. This does not identify you.
Notifications and photos
Reminders (time to pack, a forecast change, checkout day) are local notifications created on your iPhone. Packlo can save your travel passport image to your photo library when you tap Save image; it cannot read your photos.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell your data. We share it only with the providers named above, and only so the app can work, purchases can be verified, usage can be measured and ads can be measured. We may disclose information if required by law.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. Settings › Delete account in the app removes your account and everything stored with it on our servers. If you use Packlo without signing in, deleting the app removes what is on your iPhone; email us and we'll remove what is kept with your anonymous ID. Our providers may keep purchase and billing records for as long as the law requires.
Children
Packlo is not directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data about you, and to object to some uses of it. Email us and we'll help.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
